Each year World Book day comes around and thousands of school children dress up as their favourite characters and head into school. This year will be no different I am sure – with everyone’s social media feeds full of proud parent’s pictures of their little one’s. Each year there is a theme and this year it is “Share a Story”. With the aim of giving each child a book of their own and celebrating books, authors and stories – WBD has grown year on year and is one of my favourite times of the year too.
Seeing children engage in books, creativity and stories is such a brilliant thing and it also leads to lots of opportunities for Playhouse Parties and Productions to showcase their story-tellers and plays and ignite the children’s imagination.
We have worked in schools, theatre’s and for charities across London, Surrey and Hampshire with our theatre and storytelling shows and parties. This year we will be performing “Peter Pan” at various venues alongside delivering story-telling and theatre workshops. We are also delivering a version of “Peter Pan” for children with special/ additional needs at various schools.
I am sure we can all agree that the power of books, imagination and creativity are essential for children to grow into a well rounded and happy individual. I am also sure that we all remember our favourite books from childhood and how excited we were to read them – this is why it is essential that we read to our children, let them read to us and give them the magic of stories. That is why World Book Day is so important and I hope you all have a fantastic day.
